This incredibly well appointed, inlaid commode features polished dore' bronze figures of lions and Northwind faces as well as the cooresponding lengthy paw feet. The inlay, a spray of flowers that spans the entire front of the piece is intricate and features exotic mixed woods, including satinwood, kingwood and burnished to add depth. The entire piece has been painstakingly French-polished which is a time-honored with thousands of multiple layers of natural shellac hand-applied and then hand-polished with pumice until it is completed resulting in a fantastic finish that actually enhances the value of the piece for generations to come. The process takes a month to complete and then the piece is ready for only the most discriminiating collectors. The piece features a fantastic piece of French blue, lavender and white marble on top to finish the overall presentation. They don't get better than this. The commodes measures 31.75 tall x 37.75 wide x 17 deep. This is French and dates to the 1880-90s era.
