This is a gorgeous, expertly carved pair of "limed" beechwood Louis XVI style or Directoire. The frames are very precisely carved, better than average by far and have a sophisticated "limed" finish with deposits of white pigment within the carved areas to enhance their clarity. The upholstery is in good condition and still "fresh" and not extremely dated in terms of styling. The upholstery as well as the frames are in good condition with minor signs of age and use and no significant stains. Measures 33.75 tall x 28.25 wide x 25 deep and a seat height of 16 inches. They date to the 1980s era and are made in either France or possibly Italy.
